Christmas message from the African Centre Borgfelde

Don´t be afraid I bring you news of great Joy

“An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the LORD shone around them, and they were terrified. But he angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you he is messiah, the Lord. (Lk 2:10 -11)

At a time like this when we read that about one million refugees have entered the Federal Republic of Germany in this year alone and when the aftermaths of climate change become visible in our globalised world, we may inhabit a scene of fear not knowing where all this is going to lead. We are encouraged by the message of Christmas – Don´t be afraid. We are admonished not to allow fear to dictate the course of our actions. Even in the face of all the tumults in our world today we can still celebrate the feast of love and peace. We are called not to fear for we have got good news, not a bad news, not one of condemnation or judgment.

We can do something to better our world. God needs you to change the course of history. The reactions in Germany towards the influx of Refugee have taught us a lesson. I am very happy that Germany opened its doors to those in need of shelter and security. We saw huge numbers of people welcoming the refugees at entry points and train stations in Germany. In any case what is happening now will change the face of Germany.

Today we rejoice, we rejoice in the feast Christmas, we rejoice that Jesus Christ has come as one of us has redeemed us and that He will come again in Glory.

As we celebrate the coming the Prince of Peace in our World may His light shine and illuminate our paths as we search for peace in our troubled world and May Peace of Christmas rest and remain with you and your love Ones though out the Christmas season and the rest of your lives. May we not be indifferent to the suffering of Humanity.

Merry Christmas and a happy and blessed new year 2016.
